Hank Gevedon leads this single day, make and take workshop at our Makerspace, teaching folk how to make their own hunting knife. Hank calls this the "Just Enough" - a just under 4" knife, great for field dressing or EDC. This class will cover grinding and shaping the steel and wool, burning in the tang, hardening and tempering, sharpening, and making / fitting the leather sheathe. We supply all the materials, you supply all the sweat and love. You will leave this class with the skills needed to continue this beautiful craft! Minimum age of 16 is needed for this workshop, and minors needs their adult present - for anyone younger, Hank prefers to talk to you before they join. Please make sure to come dressed appropriately - closed toe shoes, no loose hair or cloth, and stuff you're comfortable grinding metal and wood in. We will have some PPE available for the class. Hank Gevedon is an experienced craftsman and teacher in Eastern Kentucky, having previously led several classes at at Berea's Festival of Learnshops.
