Make the Karambit with Hank Gevedon
About this event
Hank Gevedon leads this single day, make and take workshop at our Makerspace, teaching folk how to assemble their own Karambit - a small Indonesian curved knife resembling a claw. You will grind, harden and temper the blade, cord wrap the handle, weld the ring on, and even finish your own leather sheath. This is a beginner friendly event - hank will give a short forge demo, but you get to focus on the finishing aspects of knife making!
Hank is super excited for this one. He ran these recently for a client, and thinks this will make for a great event.
Minimum age of 16 is needed for this workshop, and minors needs their adult present - for anyone younger, Hank prefers to talk to you before they join.
Please make sure to come dressed appropriately - closed toe shoes, no loose hair or cloth, and stuff you're comfortable grinding and pounding metal in (as well as standing next to a forge). We will have some PPE available for the class.
Hank Gevedon is an experienced craftsman and teacher in Eastern Kentucky, having previously led several classes at at Berea's Festival of Learnshops.
